Car Accident Lawyers & Accident Attorneys Mississippi

Mississippi, or the Magnolia State, as it is affectionately called, is one of the most beautiful states in the South, though it also has some of the most notoriously dangerous roads in the South. Of the 900 people killed in vehicle accidents in Mississippi in 2004, 727 or 80.8% were due to roadway departures. This statistic does not compare well to the national average of 60.2% of all deaths caused by roadway departures. Many of these deaths can be attributed to the large network of roads, highways, and interstates that travel through the state, including Interstates 10, 20, 55, 59, 110, and 220 that crisscross Mississippi.

Unfortunately, due to its position right along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi was one of the states hardest hit by the one-two punch that were Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. Hundreds of square miles of the state were devastated, and the state lost significant financial revenues from the large number of gambling boats along the coast. The state is expected to have lost $500,000 a day due to these disasters.
